Perhaps my grandma called them so (Eierpflaumen), but in this times they grow plants, but didnt´t know their real botanical names....

When she called them eierpflaumen, they should be oval i think? The wichter is round. Do you remember the shape? Do you still have them?Kind regards, Nynke

Thank you, it's a blog from someone who lives here in the area. Wichters are very common here. Saturday 23 August/ Sunday 24 August we have our special Wichter-days.We are really curious where this plum comes from! They are first mentioned between 1750 and 1850, possibly in the " Illustrierte flora Mitteleuropas" by Hegi.We think they should come from Westfalen. They multiply very easily so they should still grow there.

they were really more round, then egg-shaped, really, but the garden they grew is lost, I´m very sorry, my nasty aunt shurely cut all plants down, having no more trouble with grandma´s lovely country-garden
