aren't there populations of Buxus sempervirens in the mountains in Oesterreich? maybe you could find a lot of diversity there. new wild -collected forms are most interesting.Wim

sadly, no wild buxus whether in the mountains, nor in the steppes of the east.neither here nor there buxus is mentioned as native (the second source says buxus to be naturalized locally south of Steyr in Styria). :), brigitte

ahhh the first one is gourgeous, I think i saw a picture of just part of a hedge a couple of years ago (in a book?), not in context with a building. so, these old boxhedges will be found around many of the houses there ? :oKintrishi must be most impressive. do you have more pictures? please. presumably great variety of leaves and/or habitus there? or are the plants more uniform?lg, brigitte

I'm cultivating a Buxus from its local habitat near Enns in Upper Austria. This is one of the few rare places in Austria northern the Alps, where Buxus is growing in the wild.Vanhouttewim, why you don't go to any garden-festival or plantmarket? In the past I ever saw only your father with many lists collecting plants for you? I understand: he has the money! ;D
