Zibarten = wichter? (Gelesen 10392 mal)

Hello,I'm sorry, this message is in english, but i'm afraid i would make too much mistakes in german.I'm from the north of holland, and together with some other fruit-fanatics, we are busy with a plum we call "wichter".This wild plum grows a lot in a small area, and we're trying to search where the plum comes from. It seemes to look like the Zibarten a lot. They are eatable end of august. Is this the same as your Zibarten?Any information is welcome!

Ein mirabel ist ein Prunus domestica syriaca Die Wichter ist Prunus domestica subsp. insititia, not the same as a mirabel...

i dont know anything about "zibarten" because it's a kind of regional name i think but this is what i found in the big net.."Zibarten" or Ziparte, Zippate, Ziberl, Zibärtle, Zibertle, Zibertl, Zibelle, Zwiferl or Seiberl should be Prunus domestica subsp. prisca a sort of wild plum.With small yellow/green fruits not much bigger than sleedoorn (Prunus spinosa = Schlehe).hier gevonden: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zibarte @nynke: als het nodig is kan ik de rest ook wel ff vertalen

Hallo Nynke,Eure Wichter könnten tatsächlich Zibarten sein. Udelgard Körber-Grohne beschreibt in Ihrem Buch "Pflaumen Kirschpflaumen Schlehen" ISBN 3-8062-1212-0 auf Seite 126 von einen im August reifenden Typ von Zibarten. Siehe auch Baumschule Kiefer Ortenberg, der diesen Typ Zibarte in der Vergangenheit auch auf Myrobalane veredelt hat,Viele GrüßeGiaco

There should be a connection between our "wichter" and westfalen...anyone from there who recognizes this plum?

My grandmother has had plums, she called them "Eierpflaumen" (Egg-Plums), in her very old garden in Northern-Westfalia (Münsterland), their colour was something between green-yellow-orange, about 4cm diameter the fruit, round shape, tasting very good, but not good for storage.But I dont´t know their name, sorry. "Wichter" is a synonym for young girls in northern Germany.

In Groningen (Nl) we use the word for young girls also.I know the eierpflaumen, its not the same as we are looking for, but thanks for your answer!!!
