Da die meisten für den Garten wertlos sind, würde ich Sorten bevorzugen. Die Sedum telephium blühen rot, die Sedum telephium subsp. maximum blühen weiß und heißen jetzt kurz Hylotelephium maximum. . Ich habe mal alle dunkellaubigen Sorten, die ich kriegen konnte gekauft. Die Sämlinge sind wiederum wertvoller. Jedenfalls bei den dunkellaubigen. Die hießen Mohrchen oder Sedum telephium subsp. maximum Atropurpureum oder Purple Emperor oder African Pearl oder Postmann's Pride oder Black Jack ... ;D . Außer Herbstfreude und Matrona ist noch Karfunkelstein hervorragend.
. Da die Hohen Fetthennen sehr viel Trockenheit vertragen und im Garten noch gut aussehen, wenn es heiß ist, sind das Pflanzen der Zukunft. Es gibt sicher einiges zu berichten.

ein Sämling, Nachkomme dieser gesammelten Sorten, der es gut macht und aufrecht steht. Im Hintergrund Red Cauli, die Sorte mit den kräftigsten roten Blüten.

Puh, ich müsste mal Bilder machen, denn ich habe einige davon. Allerdings war mir weniger der Trockenheitsaspekt wichtig - der taucht dann jetzt auf - sondern Vielfalt der Blätter und Blüten und dass sie relativ spät blühen. Da ich fast alles so anpflanze, dass es auch verschiedenen Insekten zugute kommt, war das Sedum als Herbstblüher unverzichtbar - außerdem gefallen sie mir wirklich gut.
Hier gibt es z.B. das normale, hohe und rosa blühende (keine Ahnung wie es heißt, ich glaube Herbstfreude), Sedum spectabile 'Stardust', Sedum cyaneum 'Sachalin', Karfunkelstein könnte auch noch dabei sein und diverse Sämlinge mit dunklem Laub und z.B. weißen Blüten.
Matrona bekomme ich nächste Woche :)

Allgäu Stauden schreibt was zu Karfunkelstein. Vielleicht will ich von denen auch noch mal ein Exemplar. Meins ist vom Hessenhof. Jedenfalls ist es eine Pagels Sorte und vermutlich identisch mit der geschützten Sorte Xenox.
